Hey! I'm Sandra F. (Zevitas) Calder, Freelance Graphic Designer who grew up in Burlington, Massachusetts. My first outside-of-school activity was at age seven. I wanted to copy my sister, so I went to ballet class; totally not for me! Thanks to mom's suggestion, l tried art classes. I attended The Tringale Studio of Art in Woburn, Massachusetts until age fourteen. I unfortunately had to stop lessons because the instructor was retiring. Lucky for me, Burlington High School had a top-notch art department; one of the best in the state (at the time). I was able to study new and exciting mediums that I never touched before such as photography, calligraphy, acrylic paints, computers, and best of all...graphic design!
I graduated in 1999, had only applied to one four-year college which was located in Beverly, Massachusetts. With help from my family over a four year period, I was able to exchange greenbacks in-lieu of a BFA in Graphic Design at Montserrat College of Art. I was surprisingly able to hold a VERY part-time job at FedEx Office in Burlington, Massachusetts while attending. When I was released from this fine institution in 2003, I spent time furthering my career at FedEx Office in every creative way possible. My ten year career came to an end due to a department relocation in December 2010. I chose not to move with my job to its new location. I felt my creativity was limited and the possibility of moving up the corporate ladder at this point was next to impossible unless I moved to Dallas, Texas there the creativity REALLY happened. Since this was not an ideal, situation, for the past year and a half, I've managed my dream of Freelance Design. This is a tough economy, so I'm currently on the back on the market for full-time employment. I'm looking for my career to be within an ad/marketing agency. Although, any respectful organization will work just fine. I love art, specifically photography, typography and design of all kinds. I enjoy making diaper "cakes" for expecting mothers and fathers. I like country music (thanks to my husband). I love my family and I love helping people. I also love my other job as a Independent Beauty Consultant. Whether it be make-up or design, I love color! I'm never afraid to try new things. |
